![]() ![]() I routinely get 10+ aircraft kills when the cv's try and avoid my AA if they get in that mindset of "Gotta KIll that ship" it can get really UGLY for their air wing. Gneis has the AA that Colorado wishes it had. More than a few times I've seen them with 30+ aircraft kills and demanding the opposing CV send them more planes. I'm not even sure if they're doing regular AFT+AA Upgrade or AFT+AA Upgrade+ManualAA trait. I've had my Saipan's Tier IX aircraft just erased from the sky by a few of these ships. The ability to eat planes alive way before they start their attack run is, in my opinion, just so much more fun than getting more accurate secondaries that still don't do much.Īll I know is I've seen Gneisenaus delete aircraft from the sky like one of those bug zapper lamps. In my experience, secondary batteries are mostly useful for starting fires, and the 12.8s on the Gneis are frankly awful at doing that. ![]() Sadly, too many CVs in the Gneis's tier range have wised up, and just don't attack me with planes anymore.īut still, I would recommend manual AA over manual secondaries. If it weren't for the Clear Sky medal getting broken a while back (it used to require *only* getting 30+ plane kills, not 30 + 50% of the entire other team's plane numbers), I would get a Clear Sky medal every ~5 battles where there's a CV on the other team. As-is, I mostly take my Gneis out when I'm divisioned with another CV player. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this build, if only there were more CVs around. You've essentially got an Atlanta strapped to your flank (admittedly without Defensive Fire). If you add the AFT +20% range for her AA, she'll do ~300 DPS with those 12.8s out to 6km. ![]() With a Manual-AA Captain, she just eats planes alive. ![]() For background, the Gneis is absolutely my favorite ship in the game. ![]()
